Camps & Excursions

At Glengarry Primary School, we are empowered learners and respectful community members who embrace challenge and celebrate growth

Camps, Excursions, and Incursions

At Glengarry Primary School, we embrace the idea that learning transcends the confines of the classroom. That’s why we are committed to providing our students with a diverse array of enriching and educational experiences through camps, excursions, and incursions.

Our selection of camps, excursions, and incursions are designed to complement and enhance our classroom curriculum. These experiences are thoughtfully integrated into our academic programs, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and providing students with hands-on, real-world learning opportunities.

Camps offer students the chance to immerse themselves in nature, develop teamwork skills, and foster independence in a supportive and supervised environment. Excursions provide students with the opportunity to explore cultural institutions, historical sites, and natural wonders, deepening their understanding of the world around them. Incursions expose students to the arts, music, science, STEM and other important learning beyond the classroom.

Each of these experiences is meticulously planned, ensuring that they are both educational and enjoyable for our students. We believe that by offering these opportunities, we can ignite a passion for learning and curiosity in our students, while also fostering personal growth and development.

At Glengarry Primary School, we are committed to providing our students with a well-rounded education that extends beyond academic achievement. Through camps, excursions, and visiting performances, we aim to cultivate curious, confident, and resilient individuals who are prepared to thrive in an ever-changing world.

Grade-specific Camps

Each year, our Grade 3-4 students embark on a memorable camp experience, while our Grade 5-6 students have the opportunity to participate in a separate camp. The locations for these camps are determined at the beginning of the year and communicated to families well in advance. These immersive experiences encourage teamwork, resilience, and personal development, fostering independence and building lasting memories.

Grade 2 Sleepover

In addition to our annual camps, we offer a special sleepover experience for our Grade 2 students. This unique opportunity provides them with a camp-like experience right at our school premises. The Grade 2 sleepover aims to prepare students for their upcoming Grade 3 camp, familiarizing them with the routines, challenges, and excitement associated with overnight stays. It’s an opportunity for our young learners to build confidence, develop social skills, and create lasting connections with their peers.

Communication and Notification

We understand the importance of keeping parents informed about upcoming camps, excursions, and visiting performances. We utilize our school newsletter and Compass, our online communication platform, to notify families well in advance about these experiences. Detailed information, including dates, locations, itinerary, and any specific requirements, will be provided, ensuring parents are kept well-informed and can support their child’s participation.
